myAirCoach2 – self-management of Asthma

Asthma is a lung condition where patients experience periods of controlled and uncontrolled symptoms, for example wheezing, chest tightness and cough.  Poor asthma control is associated with an increased risk of exacerbation, often referred to as an ‘asthma attack’.

myAirCoach was a European-wide research project looking to develop a digital health system to help people monitor and manage their asthma.

A research team based at The University of Manchester approached Research for the Future with a request to support them engage and recruit patients through our ‘Help BEAT Respiratory Disease’ campaign.

Dr Marcia Soares (Research Associate, The University of Manchester) said,

“We had a very small window in which to recruit patients to the myAirCoach study.  Research for the Future was very helpful and through them, we succeeded to recruit enough patients to our study.  Their team was very professional, helpful and I will definitely use them again for future studies.  A very big thank you.”
