COVID vaccine trials
Throughout the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic Research for the Future has supported a range of research studies, including several trials looking at potential new vaccines.
We have worked with local teams across Greater Manchester to support the recruitment of people who had registered with the NHS COVID-19 Vaccine Research Registry. Using study-specific scripts, the team was able to pre-screen people against a set of criteria, and where applicable book them into a clinic for their first appointment. For some trials, we also issued relevant patient information to expedite the informed consent process and to ensure that appointments and travel arrangements were ‘COVID-secure’ in line with changing government guidance.
Over the last six months, Research for the Future has pre-screened more than 1,000 people to take part in vaccine trials.
Wiesia Woodyatt (Research and Innovation Manager, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust):
“A big thank you for all your help, support and expertise during the screening for the Novavax vaccine study. I personally heard many participants say how lovely the team was to deal with and it had set their research journey off with a really positive start!”
