Identification of chronic kidney disease

A team of researchers based at Manchester Metropolitan University approached us to help them find patients to give their opinions on proposal for research funding.

The project is looking to develop new ways to identify patients prone to rapidly progressing kidney disease, with a view to helping improve treatments to slow down disease progression.

We invited research volunteers registered with our ‘Help Beat Kidney Disease’ campaign to complete a short online survey.

Dr Liliana Shalamanova (Manchester Metropolitan University) said:

“The response was fantastic!  We were able to close the survey much earlier than expected as within just a few days we had received 40 very good responses.  Participants took the survey extremely seriously and many offered touching personal stories that are related to, and will influence our work.”
