Move a little and often

PhD student, Isabel Adeyemi, based at The University of Manchester approached us to help recruit to a new study evaluating a behaviour change intervention looking to increase physical activity in people with depression and long-term physical health conditions such as diabetes or heart disease.

The new approach, called ‘Move a Little and Often’ had been developed to reduce sedentary time (time spent sitting or lying down) as this had previously been shown to be associates with poorer health outcomes. Eligible participants were asked to try the new approach over a four-week period, in conjunction with regular meetings and telephone calls with the researcher.

More than 30% of participants eligible to take part in the trial were recruited from Research for the Future.

This study is now complete, and you can read the final thesis online.
