Muscle calcium in type 2 diabetes

Previous research has shown that tiny ‘leaks’ of calcium molecules in muscle cells can cause muscle weakness and tiredness.

Researchers want to carry out a study to measure whether muscle cells leak calcium in type 2 diabetes and look at whether fixing this could improve blood glucose control and capacity for activity.

They want to gather the views of people living with type 2 diabetes to make sure the study is relevant and appropriate. The findings will be used to inform the study design and their application for funding to carry out the research.

This project is being carried out by researchers at the University of Lancaster.

This study has ended and is currently not accepting new applicants.
